How Long Is the Shelf Life of a Microneedling Device?
Learn about the 3-year shelf life, storage requirements and disposable needle-tip guidance for private label vacuum pump microneedling devices.

A European skincare brand recently contacted us about adding a microneedling kit to its existing product line. One of the buyer’s first questions was:
“How many years is the expiry?”
For our vacuum pump adjustable microneedling device, the stated shelf life is three years from the manufacturing date, provided that the product remains unopened, its packaging is intact and it is stored under the recommended conditions.
For skincare brands and distributors, however, the expiry date is only one part of the product evaluation. Storage, needle replacement and product labeling should also be checked before placing a private label order.
What Does a Three-Year Shelf Life Mean?
The three-year shelf life applies to an unopened microneedling product stored according to its labeling.
It does not mean that the same needle tip can be used repeatedly for three years. The shelf life refers to the period during which the unopened product is expected to remain within its specified condition before use.
The expiry date should be clearly shown on the product label or packaging, together with the production date or batch number where applicable.
Buyers should not use the product if:
- The labeled expiry date has passed
- The individual packaging is damaged
- The seal has been opened
- The device shows visible damage or contamination
How Should Microneedling Devices Be Stored?
To maintain the condition of the product during storage and distribution, we recommend:
- Keeping it in a cool, dry environment
- Avoiding direct sunlight
- Keeping it away from high temperatures and humidity
- Leaving the individual packaging unopened until use
- Following the storage instructions shown on the label and IFU
For wholesale microneedling devices, appropriate warehouse storage is especially important because products may remain in inventory before being distributed to retailers or end customers.
Is the Needle Tip Reusable?
Our adjustable vacuum pump device consists of an applicator body and a replaceable needle tip. The needle tip should be treated as a single-use consumable.
A new needle tip should be used for each user and each treatment session. Needle tips should not be shared or reused, even when they appear clean.
The reusable part of the applicator should be handled, cleaned and stored according to the instructions supplied with the selected model.
The U.S. FDA also advises using a new microneedling cartridge for every patient and every treatment session because cartridge reuse may cause or spread infection.
What Should a Private Label Buyer Confirm?
Before ordering a private label microneedling device, we suggest confirming:
- Product manufacturing and expiry dates
- Batch or lot-number labeling
- Individual packaging configuration
- Storage instructions
- Disposable needle-tip markings
- Instructions for use
- Quantity of replacement needle tips
- Labeling requirements for the target market
The final label and supporting documents should match the exact product configuration and the regulations of the country where the product will be sold.
Planning the Kit for Your Brand
For a skincare brand launching a new microneedling product line, replacement needle tips should be considered during kit development.
A starter kit may be configured with:
- One adjustable vacuum pump microneedling applicator
- Individually packed replacement needle tips
- User instructions
- Custom logo and labels
- A branded retail box
Additional replacement needle-tip packs may also create a practical repeat-purchase option for the brand’s existing customers.
