How a European Brand Launched 500 Private Label Microneedling Kits

A European beauty-device brand launched 500 branded microneedling kits while reserving additional packaging for repeat orders. See how the project was managed.

In June, a European home beauty-device brand contacted us about adding a private label microneedling kit to its existing product line.
The brand already had customers and sales channels, but microneedling was a new category for them. They wanted to test the market with their own branding rather than launch with neutral packaging.
Their main challenge was straightforward:
How could they launch a professional custom kit without taking too much inventory risk?
Here is how we handled the project.

The Client Wanted Branded Packaging from the First Order

Many new brands begin with neutral packaging, but this client wanted the first batch to look like a finished extension of its existing product range.
The project included:
  • A home-use microneedling device
  • Matching kit components
  • Customized retail packaging
  • Branded artwork
  • Protective outer packaging for delivery
The product needed to feel ready for sale—not like a temporary market-testing sample.
However, producing 1,000 finished kits immediately would have created more inventory than the client wanted for the initial launch.

A 500-Kit Launch with Packaging Reserved for Reorders

For this project, we arranged an initial shipment of 500 finished private label microneedling kits.
The printed packaging production quantity remained 1,000 sets. We assembled and shipped the first 500 kits, while the remaining 500 packaging sets were reserved for the client’s future repeat order.
This gave the client two advantages:
  1. They could launch with 500 branded kits and reduce initial finished-product inventory.
  1. The packaging for the next order was already prepared, helping simplify the repeat-order process.
This was not simply a universal reduction of every MOQ to 500 units. It was a project-specific arrangement based on the selected device, packaging structure and production requirements.
Brands should always ask their supplier to explain separately:
  • Finished-kit MOQ
  • Printed packaging MOQ
  • Quantity shipped in the first order
  • Quantity of packaging held for future production
  • Storage arrangements for the remaining materials
A clear breakdown prevents misunderstanding before the order is confirmed.

Approving the Product and Packaging by Video

The client did not receive a physical customized packaging sample before mass production.
Instead, we confirmed the details through videos and close-up images.
The approval process covered:
  • Microneedling device appearance
  • Components included in each kit
  • Logo position
  • Printing and packaging finish
  • Product placement inside the box
  • Inner-tray fitting
  • Opening and closing of the box
  • Protective outer packaging
Every correction was recorded before production continued.
Video approval can save time when the product configuration is already clear. However, it should not be treated as the best solution for every project.
If a kit uses a completely new box structure, special materials or a color that must match an exact brand standard, a physical packaging sample may still be the safer choice.

Individually Packed for Easier Dispatch

The client did not want to receive the retail kits and then arrange another round of protective packing.
To reduce this extra work, we placed every finished retail kit inside its own corrugated mailer box.
When the shipment arrived, the client did not need to source additional outer boxes or repackage every kit individually. The products were prepared for the client’s next distribution step.
This is a small production detail, but it can save a brand considerable time after delivery.
When requesting an OEM microneedling kit quotation, buyers should therefore confirm whether they need:
  • Retail packaging only
  • Retail packaging inside a master carton
  • One protective mailer box for every kit
  • Barcode or shipping-label space
  • A configuration suitable for fulfilment or direct dispatch
Packaging should protect the product and fit the brand’s actual delivery process.

The Result

Approximately one month after the final details were confirmed, the client received the order.
It was the first time they had seen the completed custom kit physically.
Their response was simple:
“Thanks, love it.”
The client was especially satisfied that the products arrived fully packed and that the project required very little additional handling on their side. They later described us as one of the easiest suppliers to work with because we understood what they needed beyond the product itself.
For us, this was the most important result.
A good supplier does not only manufacture the device. The supplier should also understand how the buyer plans to launch, store, distribute and reorder the product.

What Can Other Beauty Brands Learn from This Project?

If you are introducing private label microneedling kits into a new product line, confirm these points before ordering:
  1. How many finished kits do you need for the first launch?
  1. Does the packaging supplier require a higher production quantity?
  1. Can unused packaging be reserved for a repeat order?
  1. Which details require physical-sample approval?
  1. Which details can be confirmed clearly by video?
  1. Does every retail kit need an individual shipping box?
  1. What will your team still need to do after receiving the goods?
The right configuration is not always the option with the lowest unit price. It is the option that controls inventory risk and reduces the work required after delivery.
